5 minutes read Behind The Sound: Twook

We sat down with Andalusian producer Twook, a dark force in the underground scene, whose sound fuses UK Garage, 2-Step, Dubstep, and UK Bass with the raw intensity of Nu Metal and the chilling influence of horror cinema. Having spent more than two decades behind the decks under different aliases, Twook found his true identity during his time in London, where the 2-Step sound ignited his path. Now running his own label, Ook Records, he is carving out a space where dystopian atmospheres and bass-heavy rhythms collide. We talked about his journey as a producer, the impact of London, his love of horror, and the vision behind his label.

Musical Journey & Evolution

How would you describe your evolution as an artist since 17 and using different aliases before becoming Twook?

I started experimenting at 17, exploring different styles and sounds under various aliases. Over time, I refined my taste, learned production, and discovered what truly moves me. Twook is the culmination of all of that: a project where my influences; from dark, cinematic atmospheres to energetic UK Garage rhythms come together.

What was the turning point that made you feel Twook was the identity where everything came together?

It was when I realised I could merge my love for darkness, horror cinema, and underground beats into a unique sound. After some time feeling that something had to change, I experimented with ideas from peers suggesting new aliases, but I couldn’t see it until life brought changes that shaped a more authentic version of me. From all this, Twook was born. It gave me a new identity and purpose in music, almost like a phoenix rising from the ashes, combining my passion for horror, apocalyptic themes, reading, Nu Metal, and dark energy into one cohesive sound.

Aggression adds power and movement, making the music feel alive and demanding attention. These elements turn music into a visceral experience.

UK Garage, 2-Step & London Influence

What was it about London and its scene that sparked your obsession with 2-Step?

London has a unique energy in its underground scene. Being surrounded by clubs, radios, and authentic garage and 2-step culture sparked something deep in me. The city has a pulse that can be felt in music and pushed me to explore new rhythms and atmospheres.

How do you connect UK Garage with your Andalusian roots? Does this contrast influence your sound?

Absolutely. My Andalusian roots bring warmth and an organic touch, while UK Garage adds grit, swing, and tension. This contrast creates energy and tension in my tracks, fusing two worlds that shouldn’t necessarily meet, but work together in a unique way.

Horror, Cinema & Nu Metal

How do these dark influences show up in your music?

They appear in textures, atmospheres, and storytelling. From suspenseful builds to aggressive drops, I use sound design and cinematic elements to create tension and emotion. Even Nu Metal influences appear in the energy and attitude of the tracks.

Music can mirror reality, and my tracks channel both the chaos and beauty I see around me.

Why do fear, dystopia, and aggression inspire you creatively?

Fear and dystopia push boundaries and emotions. Aggression adds power and movement, making the music feel alive and demanding attention. These elements turn music into a visceral experience.

If your music were a film, what kind of scene or atmosphere would it create?

It would be a dark city night: rain-soaked streets, neon lights reflecting in puddles, abandoned areas filled with mystery and lurking danger. Somewhere between a thriller and an apocalyptic vision, where rhythm and tension drive every moment.

Ook Records & Independence

What inspired you to create Ook Records and what is your vision?

Seeing delays from other labels and wanting control over releases inspired me to start my own. I’m versatile and enjoy making covers, videos, and other content, so I thought, why not?

Ook Records allows me to release music how and when I want. For now, I’m releasing my own productions, focusing on dark 2-step, breaks, and dubstep sounds I love producing. Soon, the first collaboration will come out, and in the future, I plan to release tracks from other producers who fit the label’s vision.

Music can mirror reality, and my tracks channel both the chaos and beauty I see around me.

- Twook

What kind of artists or sounds are you interested in bringing to Ook Records?

Artists with bold, cinematic, and experimental approaches. UK underground sounds with storytelling, dark atmospheres, or unexpected fusions.

How does Ook Records go beyond just releasing music?

It’s about building community and identity around the music. Visuals, concepts, and experiences are just as important as the tracks. Ook Records gives artists space to explore their full creative expression.

The Scene & The Future

How do you feel about the current UK Garage and UK Bass scene? Where do you see yourself within it?

The scene is vibrant, diverse, and constantly evolving. I see myself contributing a darker, cinematic edge while respecting the roots of garage and bass.

Your sound is dark, raw, and cinematic. Does it reflect the times we are living in?

Yes, it reflects uncertainty, tension, and the complexity of modern life. Music can mirror reality, and my tracks channel both the chaos and beauty I see around me.

Looking ahead, what’s next for Twook? Any projects, collaborations, or milestones?

More monthly releases, collaborations with artists sharing a dark and energetic vision, and expanding Ook Records. I’m also exploring audiovisual projects to reinforce the cinematic side of my music, always aiming to create immersive and unforgettable experiences.
