SoundCloud Algorithm: Tricks to get your music featured in 2025
Some tips and tricks to get SoundCloud to promote your music for you

1. Playlists
The more playlists your track features on, the more SoundCloud will push it. You may think this one is obvious, but it doesn’t work in the same way as Spotify. SoundCloud has less playlist curators and in most cases less playlist engagement than Spotify. Therefore, your track featuring on high quality playlists is not as important as it is for Spotify. SoundCloud’s algorithm looks at how many playlists your track is on, and the number of likes each playlist has makes no difference.
A good method to get your track onto playlists is by reaching out to fans of your genre by using Soundcloud messages.
2. Visual embedded player
The SoundCloud Visual Embedded Player (VEP) is a tool that makes it possible to add playable SoundCloud tracks to websites. Tracks featured on websites using the VEP are usually favoured by SoundCloud’s Algorithm. Websites use the VEP for different purposes, but there are some, such as Next Sound, that are very easy to add your track to.
For this to work your track needs to be streamed a decent number of times using the VEP, however you can cheat by playing your track for 30 seconds then refreshing the page. It is also more likely to work if you track is featured on more than one website.
3. Reposts
This one is simple, reposts are essential for getting your track onto SoundCloud’s algorithms. The more reposts your track has the more likely your track will be recommended to people in “SoundCloud Weekly/Monthly”, “Related Tracks”, “Artist Stations”, “Daily Drops”, “Weekly Wave”, “Mixed For”, “Buzzing”, “Tracks of the Week”, “Scenes”, and “The Upload”
Websites like Repost Exchange can be a good method to get more reposts but be careful because too many random reposts will look suspicious.
4. Day and Time
The time of day that you upload your track does not make a difference to the algorithm, but it is a good idea to upload your track at a time when people are most likely going to be listening to music. I would go for early morning or early evening.
The Day of the week you upload your track is important to get on “The Upload” algorithm. “The Upload” is every Friday, but to get onto this algorithm it is best to upload your track on a Tuesday or Wednesday and get your track reposted, onto playlists and featured on websites as much as possible before Friday.
5. High quality audio
Soundcloud is much more likely to push out a track that has been uploaded in a high-quality audio format such as WAV, AIFF, FLAC, or ALAC. To check if your track has been registered by SoundCloud as “high quality audio” click on edit track and there should be a blue HD box in the top right corner.
